The Red Special was designed and built by Queen's guitarist, Brian May, when he was 16 years old, and it is still one of the most advanced designs out there. Our design is a knock-off... uh... clone, using off the shelf parts. It uses three EMG select single coil pickups and a Floyd Rose bridge. We kept the dimensions as close as we could, including neck widths, thicknesses, and the 24" scale length. The wiring is the same as Brian's as well, but with the EMG pickups, it is quieter. Ours uses a bolt-on neck with 24 frets, though.
