Welcome to the ES-335 page.  This guitar is a very close copy of the original, but with some improvements.  The wiring diagram allows you to blend the pickups using the volume knobs when both are selected.  The plan is made so you carve the top and back plates, since the original had laminated plates.  If you would like to use laminated plates, they are are available here.  If you use these plates, you will have to fashion some wedges to go between the plates and the center block.
